PowerMenu -- New Options for the System Menu

Posted on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at 8:57 PM by Randall

How often do you use the System Menu? It's that small menu you get with you click on the program's icon in the upper left corner of a program window. It has the following options: "Restore", "Move", "Size", "Minimize", "Maximize", and "Close". You also get this menu when you right click on a program's button in the task bar. You are more likely to have used it there as there isn't much call for it when a window is visible. PowerMenu changes that.

Powermenu adds four new items to the system menu: "Always On Top", "Minimize To Tray", "Priority" and "Transparency." These let you set a windows to be always on top of other windows, minimize a window to the tray (by the time) instead of the taskbar, and on Windows 2000 or higher set the programs priority and make the windows partial transparent. While not killer features for most people, they do make it more likely that you will actually use the system menu.
