StartRight -- Control Windows Startup

If you are like most people, when you start Windows, Windows starts a large number of programs: instant message programs, audio programs, mailbox monitors, firewalls, etc. Unfortunately, Windows often doesn't start these programs very intelligently -- it usually tries to start them all at once. This slows down your startup as your hard drive tries to read a bit from here and a bit from way over there. StartRight takes over the startup and tries to start your startup programs more intelligently.
The StartRight web site explains this better than I could:
StartRight will manage the execution of programs that are automatically started by the operating system at logon time. Instead of executing many programs at once (causing your OS to spit and sputter and attack your hard drive), StartRight will give the OS time to execute the program before running the next program. The OS should become much more responsive almost immediately after logon.
Features:
- program executing ordering
- custom delays
- Auto-Tune delays based on CPU usage (optional)
- new item notification (optional)
- automatically disable all new programs (optional)
- pause or stop program execution (optional)
I've seen this program make a huge difference on some systems -- and no difference at all on other systems. As it is freeware and easy to use, it's worth trying on your system if starting your system seems to take forever. This program will also allow you to easily disable startup programs you really don't want starting with Windows.
