Glass2k -- Make Windows Transparent the Easy Way

Posted on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 8:58 PM by Randall

You've probably seen fancy programs that allow you to make windows transparent on Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Some come with fancy prices, others are hard to use or have more features than the next version of Microsoft Word. Glass2K is a simple program that does just one thing: make windows on the desktop transparent.

From the website:

Glass2k is a small little program that allows Windows 2000/XP users to make any window transparent. Right-click on any window or press the keyboard shortcuts (Control + Shift + [0-9]) to make any window transparent. It's that simple.

The latest version will remember transparency settings by window and allow you to set the transparency of the Windows Taskbar. Making windows transparent is more eye candy than useful (at least in my opinion), but lots of people enjoy eye candy on their desktop. Be sure to scroll down one the Glass2k web page to learn how to use the program.
