StatBar -- A Freeware System Status Bar

Posted on Thursday, March 09, 2006 at 10:02 PM by Randall

A lot of people seem to want to have all sorts of statistics on their computer visible on their monitor screen. I've never found much of a need for this and the complex programs I've tried did not impress me. They seemed more about fancy skinning (and taking up large portions of the screen) than about providing information. A reader mentioned Statbar and I had to take a look. I'm impressed.

StatBar is a freeware system status bar which provides a handy, orderly overview of your system's condition -- in a thin bar. StatBar comes with 6 different color schemes and 19 information modules, allowing you to monitor and control various aspects of your system. This includes memory, CPU and disk usages, system uptime, Winamp control, network throughput, Internet time synchronization, and more. And it's easy to set up and start using. I still don't see a lot of use for such a program myself, but if you would like one -- and want one that doesn't get in your way or require a Ph.D in skinning to use, StatBar is a good bet.
