Apple Quicktime without Itunes

Posted on Thursday, February 09, 2006 at 9:46 PM by Randall

Apple really wants people to download Itunes, so they bundle it with Quicktime. To get Quicktime, you have to take a copy of Itunes whether you want it or not, right? Wrong. Apple doesn't make it easy to find, but there is a standalone version of Quicktime. The location on Apple's site moves from time to time, but it is there. As of this writing, the url is:

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html

Thanks to Fred Langa (former editor of Windows Magazine) and his free LangaList newsletter for this tip. LangaList is one of my favorite newsletters. You can always check out the current issue on Fred's web site, but if you like it you will want to subscribe so you will not miss an issue.
