Picasa -- Organize Your Pictures

There are a lot of photo organizers out there, some are free and some are very expensive. Google puchased Picasa a couple of years ago and re-released it as a free program. I wasn't all that impressed with it as first, but later versions have really improved it. When you open Picasa, it automatically locates all your pictures on your hard drive(s) and sorts them into visual albums organized by date with folder names you will recognize. You can then drag and drop to arrange your albums and make labels to create new groups.
You can also do some fairly advanced picture editing in Picasa. Simple one-click fixes put powerful effects at your fingertips, although you do not have the fine control an expert would get with a program like Photoshop. Finally, Picasa makes it easy to share your pictures - by email, by printing, byCDs, via Hello, and even via your blog. Picasa is an easy to use program that does what it claims without getting in your way.
