Create Fractal Art with Chaos Pro

Posted on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at 9:11 PM by Randall

I love to play with fractals (those fascinating mathematically based images that just get more detailed the further you zoom in). I've often wanted to be able to easily create and layer fractals so as to create fractal artwork the way the shareware program Ultrafractal does, but I've never been able to justify the over $100 price. Chaos Pro, while not quite as polished looking as Ultrafractal, can duplicate most of its features -- including the ability to layer one fractal atop another. It can also read and use Ultrafractal 3 formula files (as well as files for the once very popular DOS program FractInt).

Chaos Pro has a large feature set, but it is a bit too long and detailed for me to list here in any meaningful manner, so I'll just link to the features page on the Chaos Pro web site. However, here is a very fast summary: multitasking, multiwindowing, true color, Ultrafractal and FractInt compatible, layers, generate animations, fractal formula compiler, and 3d transformations. Fortunately, Chaos Pro has a well-written help file that explains all the features of the program.

If you have any interest at all in fractals, you will want to try this program.
