QuickTopic -- Instant Message Board/Mailing List

Posted on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at 10:11 PM by Randall

Have you ever needed a mailing list or a message board for a short group discussion which is too involved to conduct via standard email (someone is always forgetting to reply to all and if a new person has to join the discussion they cannot easily get copies of what has gone on before they joined) but not really worth the time and trouble of setting up a mailing list at Yahoo Groups?

The free QuickTopic service may be exactly what you need.It is a quick to set up single topic mailing list/message board combination. There aren't a lot of frills, but if you need a temporary mailing list/message board for a short discussion, it has everything you need. QuickTopic provides a nice one-page description of its service here.

Creating a list requires filling in your name, email address, a password, the name of your topic, and then pressing a button. You get a URL to the board and can invite people to it. Members can participate either via the topic message board or via email -- topics even have an rss feed. You can even download a copy of your topic when you are finished with it for your records. You can find our more from the QuickTopic FAQ page. QuickTopic is free and supported by text ads, although a paid option is available if you use QuickTopic a lot and want more features and no ads.
