Ashampoo ClipFinder -- Find and Download Onlive Video

Ashampoo ClipFinder is a freeware program that lets you search online video portals like Youtube by keywords and view and/or download the videos it finds. Most programs for video downloading are browser addins that allow you to try to save the video playing on a page you are viewing. ClipFinder takes a different approach. It searches video sites for videos managing a search term and allows you to view and/or download one or more of the videos it finds.

Features (from the Clipfinder web site):

* Finds online videos which fit a search word
* Supports the popular video portals YouTube, VideU, MyVideo, ClipFish, Google Video, sevenload, Dailymotion, MySpace, Metacafe and IFILM
* Preview of all hit videos directly in the program window
* Shows the length, assessment and name of the videos
* Playing the videos directly in the Ashampoo ClipFinder
* Download of the videos in the FLV format on your own hard drive
* Your own favorite videos will be taken over in a separate favorites file
* Skins change the looks of the Ashampoo ClipFinders

While this program is free, Ashampoo requires you to register it with an email address (and sign up for their newsletter). However, the program seems to work quite well on the sites it supports. Clipfinder is much easier to use than many of the browser-based video downloading systems I've tried, but it is somewhat less flexible.
