Avidemux Video Editor (Discovery)
My idea of video is watching a DVD, but if you make your own videos and are looking for a simple but functional video editor, you might want to give Avidemux a try. I saw someone on a forum (unrelated to video) say it was “basic, but simple to use — and free” when someone new to video editing was asking about editing programs.
From the Avidemux web site:
Avidemux is a free video editor designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks. It supports many file types, including AVI, DVD compatible MPEG files, MP4 and ASF, using a variety of codecs. Tasks can be automated using projects, job queue and powerful scripting capabilities.
It doesn’t sound like Avidemux would win any awards in the number of features department, but sometimes lots of flashy features just get in the way of getting a simple job done.
Operating System: Windows XP (and BSD, Linux, and Mac OS X)
