Extended Support through April 2014 for Windows XP Home and XP Media Center Edition
Microsoft announced yesterday that support for the consumer versions of Windows XP (Home and Media Center Edition) will not end in April 2009 as previously announced. Instead, XP Home and XP MCE will then enter the same five Extended Support period that has always been promised for XP Professional. During the extended support period, free support is pretty much limited to security updates and online knowledge base support, but that's enough to keep XP Home or XP Media Center Edition running on your hardware with regular security updates through April 2014.
This is great news, if you are like me and not planning to upgrade to Windows Vista immediately.
