MyURLBar — Find Sites by Name in Firefox

I discovered a very simple Firefox extension (myurlbar_a) today that made me wonder how I have ever managed without it. It allows you to type site/page names (as well as the usual URLs) into Firefox’s address bar. If you type a name instead of a URL, this extension searches your bookmarks and your history for sites whose names match and displays them in the address bar’s dropdown box. When you see the site you want, you can just click on it in the drop down box and Firefox will go to that page.

While this is often much faster than searching through a large list of bookmarks, it is the ability to easily search through your recent browsing history than really lets this extension shine. No need to bring up the history sidebar to hunt up the site you visited a few days ago and now wish you had bookmarked. Now all you have to do is remember part o the site name and type it. This extension saves a lot of unnecessary mousing, so it is great for keyboard fanatics.
